Changing Slides in a PinnacleCart made Slider

If you have a Slider that was installed by PinnacleCart Professional Services, this will show you the path you need to use to change your Slider Images for your PinnacleCart Site. If you would like a Slider installed by our team, please reach out to Support or Sales and we can get this started for you.

Applies to Version(s): 3.7.10 - 3.8.2r2 (or Current)

Create Your Images

Create your Images to be used in the slider to match the same image sizes either given or new image sizes you will use for all slider images. Name the images “slider1.jpg” and increment the number to 5 or with a friendly name. Size for your site should be 950px wide by 400px high and 72DPI (dots per inch) so it's ready.

Upload Your Images

Place the images named , slider1.jpg…. into the following directory:

 /content/skins/%SkinName%/images/slides/

%SkinName% = the name of your custom skin or current loaded skin

You can use FTP, Your control panel or the file manager in the cart to upload these pictures.

Navigating to Edit the Slider

Open the File Manager from the Search Icon type in File Manager

Once in the file manager navigate to:

/content/skins/%SkinName%/templates/layouts/zones/slider.html

Click Edit on the “slider.html” and an editor will appear below:

Another option is to edit the Slider through Cart Designer, and also adding titles for your images and a direct link to that product or section. You will see this in the next section.

Add in Links or Modify existing links

From the Text shown in the picture on the previous step above it looks like this for each slider indicated by the word SLIDE and the number of the slide

<!-- SLIDE 1 -->

<div class="slide" id="slide1">

<div class="slide-inner">

<div class="slide-bg"><img src="{$skin_images}slides/slide1.jpg"

alt="-" /></div>

<div class="slide-text">

<h1>Open House</h1>

<h2>Fri 10/16 Noon - 6pm</h2>

<p class="button-row"><a

href="index.php?p=catalog&parent=274&pg=1" class="button button-standard">Read More</a></p>

</div>

</div>

</div>

A. To Change a Link: alter this section at the top href="index.php?p=catalog&parent=274&pg=1

B. To Change Title: alter this section <h1>Open House</h1>Where Black Seed Oil is the name you want

C. To Change the subtext: alter this <h2>Fri 10/16 Noon - 6pm</h2>to Text you want to use like

D. To Change the Image look at the <img src="{$skin_images} slides/slide1.jpg , prepare your image on your local machine to match these dimensions 950px wide by 400px high and 72DPI then name it to the exact tag. In this example it is called slide1.jpg. If you want to change the name you can do so by changing this line

<img src="{$skin_images} slides/slide1.jpg

to

<img src="{$skin_images} slides/slidernamedchanges.jpg

1. If you copy paste links from another source make sure it is Plain Text, if you are not sure copy paste to “notepad” program first to remove any non-printing characters like what Microsoft Word would insert

2. If you do not want a link use a # in place of a URL

3. Use relative paths not full urls

  • a. This is a relative path "/_AUTOMOTIVE/automotive.php”
  • b. This a full URL (don’t use) “http://www.mysite.com/_AUTOMOTIVE/automotive.php”
